“Education is not the amount of information that is put into your brain and there is a riot, which makes your whole life useless. We must have life-building, human-building, character-building, assimilation of ideas. “— Swami Vivekananda The eternal words given above define an autonomous body under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan- Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. KVS is a vibrant and premier educational institution in the field of quality school education. The KVS Jammu region was established in 1984 and has current jurisdiction over 38 KVs located in Jammu and Kashmir, with a dedicated, well-equipped and committed team of effective management and teachers for the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of the students. Under its working in the same direction, a galaxy of multidisciplinary curricular activities are organized on a regular basis to bring out the best in students. ‘All round personality development’ is an important focus area to enable our students to march with the ever changing world of technology and globalization. We believe in inclusive education with principle “to inspire the weak, to address the average and challenge the gifted children”. We are proud to help our students develop into the next generation dutiful, sensitive and responsible citizens. Our students have achieved many milestones in the past and I sincerely hope that this quest for excellence and achievements will continue in the future as well. Mr. Nagendra Goyal Deputy Commissioner

Children are the asserts of our Nation, more valuable than any other. To Sculpt, mould and shape them requires persistent and unwavering efforts. Education is a systematic process through which child acquire knowledge. The goal is to make the individual perfect. Amidst the changes that are sweeping the School education today, besides developing this valuable human resource, the School aims to help each child to attain educational achievement to the best of their potential promoting the development of resistance, determination, confidence and creative and critical thinking, good social skills, and the availability to form the good relationships. To help children in participating in community life and fulfilment of civic and social responsibilities and to produce children who can go into work force and become productive citizens of the country. It recognizes that a “practical” aspect of schooling must be satisfied. Young people for a healthy life style including physical activities and participation in healthy leisure activities. To apply their understanding of information to “real life” problems. Education is not learning by rote and then repeating it in the examination. Our approach is student centred and goes beyond text books, classrooms and boundaries. Students develop practical skills, enabling them to apply their learning to unfamiliar situations and think critically about issues. The harmonious development of the physical, mental, morel (spiritual) and social faculties, life of dedicated service. These prepare them for a long life success. Hoping that our children besides carving a niche for themselves also prove to be beacon lights to those who are standing at the cross roads. We are very grateful to our parents to their sincere involvement in School. Without their single- minded Co-operation between the School and home we cannot offer holistic Education. I wish you all a progressive and promising Session ahead.
